Southern Technical College Receives $285K Grant For Jobs Pipeline

Port Charlotte, Florida, (August 27, 2024) – Southern Technical College is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $285,000 grantfrom the FutureMakers Coalition at Collaboratory for the SWFL Equitable Jobs Pipeline: Sustainable Partnerships for SWFL Workforce Initiative!

FutureMakers is a cross-sector partnership, whose members share the goal of transforming Southwest Florida’s workforce by having 55% of our working age adults obtain a credential beyond high school.

This award will enable Southern Technical College to launch student recruitment initiatives focusing on individuals seeking to upskill and/or reskill into the exciting career pathway of Surgical Technology. 

The need for qualified surgical technologists is on the rise across the nation and in our local Southwest Florida community, per the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

This new funding opportunity will allow 60 eligible Southern Technical College students to receive partial scholarships of up to $6,000.00 to help cover the cost of an Applied Associates of Arts degree earned at the Port Charlotte campus.

New student cohorts begin every three months. STC is currently enrolling students for its next term, which starts on September 30 th .
